Services and pricing

Four ways Karen helps. Most families start with one and add another later. Every service starts with a free call and a written estimate you can say no to.

Boxes labeled keep, donate and trash during a sorting visit

Sorting and organizing

For the house that has become too much to manage. Karen works beside your parent, one room at a time, at their pace. Everything gets a decision: keep, give to family, donate, sell, or let go. Nothing leaves without a yes.

Good for: garages, spare rooms, closets, the kitchen that has three of everything.
Usually takes: three to five visits of about three hours.
Cost: $65 an hour.

Downsizing and moves

Moving from the family home to something smaller, or to assisted living. Karen measures the new place, works out what fits, packs and labels, books and manages the movers, and sets up the new home so the bed is made and the pictures are up on the first night.

Good for: a move with a date on the calendar.
Usually takes: two to four weeks from first visit to last box.
Cost: quoted as a package after Karen has seen both homes. Most moves land between $1,800 and $4,500 including the movers.

Household support

A standing weekly visit. Karen opens the mail, sorts the bills, keeps the calendar, sets up the pill organizer, and sends you a short note afterward so you know how things are going. It is the visit that keeps small problems small.

Good for: a parent who is managing, mostly, and a family who worries.
Usually takes: two hours a week.
Cost: $65 an hour, billed monthly.

Life transitions

After a loss, a diagnosis, or a hospital stay. Karen helps with the practical side: the paperwork, the house, the things that have to be dealt with when nobody has the energy to deal with them.

Good for: the weeks when everything happens at once.
Usually takes: as long as it takes. Karen will tell you.
Cost: $65 an hour. The first visit after a loss is free.

How pricing works

  • The first call is free. So is the first visit after a loss.
  • Hourly work is $65 an hour, and you get a written estimate before it starts.
  • Moves are one package price, movers included, so there is one number to plan around.
  • You can stop at any time. You pay for the hours worked, nothing more.
  • Adult children often pay for a parent. Karen invoices whoever you tell her to.
